Coach Sweet is the pastor of Matthew Road Baptist Church and also is a professor of math at Dallas Baptist University. He has been coaching select baseball for over a decade and a varsity head coach since the 2020-2021 season. Beginning July 1, 2022, Coach Sweet and Coach Reusser launched the Mansfield Knights. Coach Sweet is married to Dr. Kim Sweet, a pediatrician with Hope Clinic. They have two sons, Austin and Michael. In addition to pastoring, teaching math, and coaching baseball, Coach Sweet volunteers with the Mansfield Youth Baseball Association as the Vice President of Fields.
Coach Mike Channell has been in sales for the past 25 years. He graduated form Indiana University and The Master's University in Southern California where he met his wife. They moved to Texas in 2007 and have six kids, four sons and two daughters. They are members of Countryside Bible Church in Southlake. Coach Mike grew up playing baseball and has been coaching for 15 years since his oldest son was young, including select baseball, varsity baseball with the TACA organization, and assistant varsity coach last season with the Mansfield Knights.
Coach Ben is a software developer working in healthcare and member of Matthew Road Baptist Church. He was pulled into coaching baseball through a connection to Coach Sweet and has been coaching with him for several years, including at the varsity level since the 2020-2021 season. Having no children of his own, he instead is pouring into the young men he coaches and is grateful for the opportunity to help them become better men who seek after God.
Coach Adam has been playing baseball since age four and was an outfielder and pitcher during his high school career. He earned All American Direct Select recognition two years in a row and MVP of the Midwest Championship game in 2017. His pitching led his team to multiple championships in high school, including the Private School Classic and the Home School World Series. He played in college at Ouachita Baptist University. Adam comes to us from the North Texas Oilers where he coached 13u and 16u teams. He has a passion for coaching and is excited to be a part of the Mansfield Knights.
Coach Alex works in Program Financial Management at Lockheed Martin, and is a member of Matthew Road Baptist Church. During his time at college studying economics, as well as post-graduation, he was a sports radio broadcaster, sports talk show host, and worked analytics for the school’s baseball team, the San Jose Giants, and the San Francisco Giants. Now in Texas, he thanks God for allowing him to continue his love for baseball while also helping spread God’s Word.
Michael Sweet played varsity baseball for 3 years under Head Coach Daniel Sweet and Assistant Ben Reusser. He joined the Knights in the 2024-2025 season as the JV assistant coach and then was the Knights' Summer Program Head Coach for the 2025 summer season, leading the team to a 14-4 record with 2 tournament wins.
